ADVERTISEMENT WRITING

Advertisement is a means/way for the general masses to promote/announce /tell about property, vehicle, services, needs or other information.

It aims to seek / attract the attention of people on a common platform/media such as newspaper, magazine, internet, public places, billboards, etc.

Points to remember:

1. Word limit is 50.

2. Place it in a box.

3. Write a suitable title/heading on the top and in the center.

4. Keep it brief, concise and to the point.

5. Don’t frame sentences, include phrases, avoid repetition.

6. Use proverbs, sayings, catchy slogans, headlines, etc.

7. Avoid articles, prepositions, helping verbs, connectors, etc.

8. Include all the necessary and relevant information, avoid unnecessary details.

9. Conclude with contact no, address and timing of availability (as required).

Features of Classified Advertisements:

  • They are written in short catchy phrases, words and clauses with title/heading.
  • The language used should be simple, formal and appropriate as per the type.
  • They are short, concise and to the point.
  • All the relevant /required information Should be mentioned.
  • Irrelevant and unimportant information is to be avoided.
  • Contact name and address given should be used.
  • They are written in a box to attract attention.
  • Leave proper margin / space on all sides.
  • The word limit is 50. Don't exceed the word limit.
  • Entire advertisement should be written / completed on one single page.

Format - 1 mark
Content - 1 mark
Expression - 1 mark
Total - 3 marks (It may vary as per classes / boards / exams)
